Thanksgiving Fun

Twenty of the Twenty six of us were together for Thanksgiving in Utah this year.  We missed J.D.'s family who spent Thanksgiving in Arizona.  We are so blessed and have so much to be thankful for!

Jenni was in charge of the crafts….

Julie brought home Egyption head pieces from Egypt.  Makes for fun dress up!

Kirtland, Ohio

Day 4 & 5 took us to Kirtland, Ohio where the Saints moved on to build the Temple. The area has been restored as closely as possible to original and feels like it!

The first picture is taken in the room where the School of the Prophets was held in the upper room of the Whitney Store. The other one is taken in the upper room of the Whitney home where Joseph and Emma lived. The table is the original table where Joseph and Oliver sat while translating parts of the Book of Mormon. Most pieces are time period furnishings. This table is one of the few original pieces of furniture that is still in existence. Very cool.
Leon and Joan in front of the Kirtland Temple. The doors are original and restored as they would have been back in the 1800's.

The Hill Cumorah

Palmyra, New York

Day 2 and 3 took us to Palmyra, NY where we visited the Sacred Grove, the Hill Cumorah and the Palmyra Temple. We drove out to Fayette to the Peter Whitmer farm where the Church was officially organized. We also visited the Granin Book Store where the Book of Mormon was printed; a miraculous story itself! These were 2 amazing days!

Niagara Falls with Randy and Julie

For our Christmas, Mother's Day, Father's Day and Birthdays this year, Randy and Julie took us on a very fun Church History Trip. We started out in Denver, flew to Buffalo, New York and then drove to Niagara Falls, Canada where we stayed the night in the Falls View Marriott Hotel. This is Day 1 of our trip.
